After an inspiring DOCAM 2024 in Philadelphia, thanks to your participation, we are excited to announce that the Document Academy's 2025 Annual Meeting will be hosted by the Berlin School of Library and Information Science at Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany!
With its rich historical and cultural backdrop, Berlin promises to be a worthy venue for exploring the evolving role of documentation in shaping human knowledge and cultural heritage. The meeting will take place over two and a half days from September 18 to 20, 2025. It will feature immersive single-track sessions, interdisciplinary workshops and engaging cultural programs. On the evening before the annual meeting (September 17) there will be an optional gathering for those who arrive earlier.
This year’s meeting will leave room to celebrate the contributions of DOCAM’s founding members. Special workshops will be dedicated to reflecting on DOCAM’s past and envisioning its future.
In the tradition of DOCAM, this event will foster lively discussions and highlight topics such as the impact of AI on document theory, interdisciplinary approaches and the legacy of DOCAM's founding members—all while exploring the beautiful sights and treasures of Berlin.
Please check back for updates on the venue and logistics – additional details will be provided in the coming weeks.
We look forward to seeing you in Berlin as we continue to grow our dynamic DOCAM community!
Warmly,
Prof. Vivien Petras and Sascha Donner
On behalf of the DOCAM 2025 Organizing Team
The conference will be hosted at Dorotheenstrasse 26, 10117 Berlin, in the heart of the Mitte district of Berlin and on the campus of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. The Mitte district is home to many of Berlin's most famous sights. Here you can enjoy the view from the TV Tower, stroll through the Brandenburg Gate, visit the Berlin Cathedral or look out over the Tiergarten from the dome of the Reichstag building right in the center of German politics. https://www.berlin.de/en/attractions-and-sights/district/mitte/
